We visited the doctor today. Everything is great! We got to see our little girl - she is absolutely perfect! The tech measured her head, abdomen, femur, and fluid levels. Everything was in the "normal" range. Megan weighs a little over two pounds. We saw her heart beating with all four chambers in tact. The tech tried to get a 4D picture of her, but her face was smashed against the uterine wall and she had her hand up to her mouth. At one point, we saw her jaw move up and down, so she might be sucking on the hand. (Justin and I both had braces, so we already know that expense is coming!) The picture above is her abdomen. Hopefully you can tell where her spine is. The black "hole" to the left of the spine is her stomach. The picture below is as clear. It is her profile. She is looking straight up and you can see her jaw bone. This was where we saw her jaw moving up and down - so cute!
Our doctor is fantastic! We are going through the Bradley Method of childbirth classes right now. This method is based on the premise that our bodies are set up to bear children, so during labor, the mother should receive as little intervention as possible. Yes, this includes inducing, pain medication, and Cesarean. No, I am not crazy. I am going to let my body do what it is designed to do. However, if something happens that endangers me or the baby, I will have the option of intervention. Our doctor is completely on board with the whole thing - which is a blessing. He and his wife used the Bradley Method when they had their children, so he is familiar with all of it. I have heard wonderful things about the nurses in labor and delivery at the hospital, so I am feeling good about the path we are on. Of course, I realize that Megan may throw us a curve ball at any time, but it is nice to have a plan.
My summer is drawing to a close. I have three short weeks until I return to the working world. So, I am hoping to finish up the bedding this week. I will post pictures when it is complete. We have our mattress and a set of sheets. So when our bed finally arrives in September we can set it up!! Right now the only baby thing in our nursery are the curtains. I can't wait to set up the rest of the room.
